Pheeroan has conducted activist performances since his international introduction as a jagged rhythm arranger with 20th Century composers. He cooks and scrambles and chops in and out of the where-we are-state. He believes in music as medicine, remising lethargy at every turn of phrase. This Friday he evokes stories from three ensemble members with whom he shares a history of celebration and praise.
