Pheeroan's drumming and music are expressed in rituals driven by imagination. He has been an outstanding contributor to African-American musical innovations through his work with creative composition, and interdisciplinary mediums since 1976.  He believes that the arts are a way to give thanks and to work for change. His performances and recordings include tours of Africa, Asia, and Europe with musical luminaries Wadada Leo Smith, Oliver Lake, Anthony Davis, Amina Claudine Myers, Henry Threadgill, Sonny Sharrock, Yamashita Yosuke, Liu Sola, Andrew Hill, Mike Nock, James Newton, Anthony Braxton, and Tom Pierson.  

As a concert producer through Seed Artists Pheeroan invests in the vivacity of the performing arts. Pheeroan supports fellow artists and communities who have built a legacy of creative music and mentorship for future generations.
