Pheeroan akLaff leads music ensembles with a vital sound centered in the American Drum-set. His ensemble music on Fits Like A Glove, Sonogram, and Global Mantras express influences from a diverse world of travel. His quartet recordings; The Willisau Concert, and Live Australia, feature luminaries John Stubblefield, and Mike Nock respectively. His duo recordings with Amina Claudine Myers, Michael Cain, Anthony Braxton, Liu Sola, and Jun Miyake display a devotion to drumming as a therapeutic and imaginative ritual. His solo recordings; House Of Spirit Mirth and Drums et Variations explore composition as storytelling events.
